City-Metro Sports Club commenced in January 2007 playing netball with CitySide Sports at the Mayors Park Tennis / Netball Centre in Clifton Hill (Collingwood). The club was created with a sole focus of providing individuals of all levels to be able to play without having to create/enter their own teams.

Originally the teams were simply named according to which division they played in (eg. City-Metro A, City-Metro B) and all players wore a white t-shirt. In the Autumn 2007 season with 7 teams entered there was a need to be able to recognise the teams individually and each team was named a colour (eg. City-Metro Black, City-Metro Red).

The Spring 2008 season saw some more major changes to the club, with the introduction of seasonal fees, new uniforms and new names. Teams were able to pick their own team name (eg. City-Metro Chaos, City-Metro Rebels) and a new green t-shirt uniform with the City-Metro logo was worn by all players. The club began charging seasonal fees which were due each half of the season at $60 per player. This allowed for players to have a night off and CitySide Sports would find a fill in who could play for free.

The club so far has won 2 premierships and appeared in 5 grand finals!

The current season, Summer 2008 is a shorter season for CitySide Sports with 10 weeks of round robin and 2 weeks of finals.

The next season, Autumn 2008 will commence in late Arpil. There will be the usual two installments of $60 per player due Round 1 and Round 8. These fees do not include any teams who make finals who need to pay $70 per team per game. If players are interested in playing in Autumn 2008 they need to fill out a registration form online by clicking the "Autumn 2008" tab above.

Players who have already registered by filling out a form at the courts do not need to do the online registration.

The Committee

City-Metro Sports Club will now have a committee of 7 players. Players who are interested in being on the committee should let their interest known by calling Geoff on 0414-233-822.

The positions on the committee will be:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Club Administrator * Appointed by CitySide Sports
  • Junior Convenor
  • Social Club Convenor

The purpose of the committee shall be to ensure the smooth operation of the club and organise club functions and social gatherings.
